Most gyms in this city play one of two games. The first is a race to the bottom — cheap memberships, broken equipment, packed floors, a turnstile that never sleeps. The second is a race to the top — luxury fees, marble bathrooms, and a strength corner the size of a parking space.

We're not playing either. Xcel Fitness runs on a single rule: cap the memberships so the equipment is there when you need it. Then fill the floor with the strength, cardio and functional gear most New Zealand gyms still refuse to invest in.

And because the trainers who work this floor are the best in the city, we don't take a percentage of what they earn. They rent the space. They keep their clients. They keep their business.

Top-of-the-range racks, platforms and plate-loaded machines. Free weights from 1kg dumbbells to the heaviest you'll need. Built for serious training — not selfies.

Cardio & HIIT

Treadmills, bikes, rowers, ski ergs, assault gear. Ample machines so you're never waiting at peak. Top-range, regularly maintained.

Functional Space

Ample functional zone for mobility, conditioning, group sessions and PT work. Turf, sleds, kettlebells, plyo boxes — the full toolkit.

01 What does "capped memberships" actually mean?

We set a strict ceiling on how many members each location signs up. When we hit that number, sign-ups close until someone leaves. The result: when you walk in, the equipment you came for is available. No 20-minute waits for the squat rack at 6pm.

02 Can I use all three locations on one membership?

Yes. Every paid plan includes multi-gym access across Manukau, East Tamaki and Mt Wellington. Train wherever fits your day.

03 I'm a personal trainer — how does the gym rental work?

You pay a flat rental for floor access (three tiers: Standard, Standard Plus, Unlimited). You keep 100% of what you bill your clients. You bring clients in to train for free. We don't take a percentage, we don't cap your hours, we don't restrict your branding. Contact your nearest location for a tailored quote.

04 Can I try the gym before signing up?

Yes — a free gym trial is available at every location. Drop in during staffed hours or send the form below and we'll set it up.

05 Is the gym actually open 24/7?

Yes — members on Freedom or Committed plans get key-card access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across all locations. Off-Peak members access during 9am–4pm and 12am–3am.
